The governing body is totally committed to supporting the school in its quest for continual improvement. It wholeheartedly endorses the school’s mission statement ‘Respect and Achievement for All’, and believes that by working together and always expecting the best we can attain the highest possible standards for our students.


Andy Woodward has been a governor since 2001, he has been chair of Governors since 2009 and also sits on the personnel committee.  

Andy is a petroleum chemist.  He has three sons and is an avid Brentford supporter.  

He enjoys playing badminton, scuba diving, reading and travelling.


Jan Chaplin has been a governor since 2007. She is Vice-Chair of Governors and also Chair of the Personnel Committee. 

She first became involved with the school when the company she worked for did community work creating our multi-faith garden area.

She retired from work last year after 32 years in a high street bank and is looking forward to spending more time at the school. Jan is married with two children and two grandchildren.  She enjoys holidays and reading.

Karen Eastwood | CO-HEADTEACHER

Karen Eastwood has been a Governor since she was appointed as Head in 2002.  She started her career teaching A level History and moved on to work with students with severe learning difficulties.

She has run a behavioural unit, led an inclusion nursery project, led a post-16 SLD unit and worked on Open University programmes with the BBC.

Karen has a married son and a baby granddaughter. She spends her leisure time reading, shopping and going to the theatre and concerts.


Paul Walsh is Co-Headteacher and has been a governor since 2012. He is currently a member of the finance committee and is also responsible for governor training and development. 

Paul has been a teacher since 1991 and started his career as a Science teacher in mainstream schools.  He has been at the school since 2002, when he joined as teacher in charge of the language resource.

On a Saturday morning in the Spring and Summer he can usually be found digging on his allotment.

Jason Brown | Parent GOVERNOR

Jason Brown joined the governing body in 2016 as a parent governor.

Jason is a Design & Technology Teacher, and has a solid background in international construction.

He is the father of Ben in Y8 and his triplet brothers. Jason can be usually be found repairing something one of his boys has broken.

Mike Wainhouse | PARENT GOVERNOR

Mike Wainhouse has been a Parent Governor since 2014. He has held numerous executive roles in a variety of national and international organisations and agencies and has experience of working in Whitehall and abroad.

He has a deep interest in education and until recently held a senior operational role in a postgraduate level academic establishment. He is currently working as the Head of Futures and Strategy at a major UK think tank.  

He is father to James in Y9, who has Downs Syndrome and is married to Nicola; they have two others sons, Charles and Jonathan.


Sarah Church has been a co-opted Governor since 2012. She is a member of the Finance & Buildings Committee. 

Sarah works as a civil servant for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. She has previously held roles in estates, commercial and change leadership.

Sarah was awarded 'Companions of the Order of the Bath' on January 2017.

Peter Pambos | Local Authority Governor

Peter Pambos has been a governor since 2001 and has been a LA governor since 2014.

Peter is chair of the finance and buildings committee.  

Peter has a background in education and now works for the Surrey County Council as a Data and Assessment Consultant. 

Robert Pettigrew | Co-opted Governor

Robert Pettigrew has been a co-opted Governor since 2011.  He is a member of the Finance Committee.

He is an economist, public policy researcher, political communications consultant, social entrepreneur and organist. Formerly a councillor on Portsmouth City Council, serving on the Education Committee, he has been a school governor since 1999 and served for four years as chairman of a national education advisory committee.

Robert’s interests and recreations include music, watching cricket, and the City of London as a Liveryman of Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers.

Sherri Taylor | Staff GOVERNOR

Sherri Taylor has been a Staff Governor since 2007. Within the School setting she is the SENCo and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. 

Her role within the Governing Body is to ensure that Governors are informed of all Safeguarding protocols and practice for students with SEN together with those students who are either classified as a LAC (looked after child) or on a CP plan (Child Protection). 

Outside of school, activities include keeping fit, long walks and studying.  Sherri recently achieved her honours degree in Childhood and Youth Cultural Studies through Social Sciences, Education Social Sciences, Education and Psychology.

Debbie Nicholson | Clerk to the GOVERNORs

Debbie Nicholson has been Clerk to the Governing Body since September 2014.  Debbie is a Teaching Assistant at the school and organises college and work experience. 

Prior to having a family Debbie worked at the Financial Times in the Editor’s office and more recently at Fullbrook School in the Learning Support Department. 

She is married with a daughter and son and her personal interests include theatre, travel and a variety of water sports.
