Over the last few weeks we have a wide range of events that students have enjoyed. Here is a selection...
We had a wonderful Harvest assembly with a large number of students from KS3 doing poems, presentations and an amazing drama sketch. The fundraising focus was on bringing in tins and packets to create a Harvest display. Students in KS4 helped organize the produce and take it to our local Food Bank. There was also a collection for the Save the Children charity. The Harvest Lunch raised £288. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Four students participated as sports leaders in a Boccia tournament at Woking Football Club. This was the first of a number of sessions where they will coach primary school students. They were a credit to the school and are looking forward to the next session. Trevor Flores
Tag Rugby Tournament
The Park School again hosted the annual SSSSA Tag Rugby tournament on Thursday this week at Cobham RFC and it was another great success; the sun even shone for a brief while! After a number of training sessions with Trevor Flores our team played incredibly well. Their game play was commented on more than once by the referees and the standard was up from last year. So much so The Park won all their section games with maximum points (and a large number of tries!) and progressed to the main Trophy Competition in the afternoon; a great achievement in itself. Well done everyone. Fiona Dunckley
A group of year 8 students were invited to take part in a creative music workshop alongside other students at a regional music and education conference in London. The day began with a singing warm up and then opportunities to try out different instruments and a variety of musical apps and sound beams. As the day went on their curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm grew. They were inspired by and practised alongside accomplished musicians. The afternoon session featured more composing and improvising building up to the final piece in front of seventy-five delegates. This was described as ‘an impressive performance’. Frances Ward
Paralympian Visits The Park
Hannah Russell a visually impaired Paralympic swimmer visited the school to talk to KS4 students yesterday. Hannah won two golds and a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 games. She gave a talk about her training and Olympic experience and then students asked questions. At the end of the session students were able to have a close look at her Olympic medals. Students said that her story was really inspirational and it was amazing that she was able to visit and that she brought her medals with her.
